"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present.... What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit 'ordinary' and 'unexciting,' with joy?"

The Last Day of Kindergarten!

Wow!! I can't believe how quickly this school year flew by! With the teacher's strike at the begining of the year, we thought it would never start and now it is over! Cooper and I went to school with Chloe on the last day- they had a party and did a few other fun activities! I can't believe Chloe is now a 'first grader!'

Cooper eating donuts and fruit with Chloe. He thought he was hot stuff sitting at her table with her and the kids!

Chloe at the easel, circling 'words inside of words' in Miss Lowy's last morning note of the year!

The entire class!

Chloe and her BFF's!

How is she this old already?!

And with Miss Lowy, the best kindergarten teacher ever!

Gymnastics Olympiad

Chloe had her end of year "Gymnastic's Olympiad" on June 13th. She had her last t-ball game and party already that day, so she was a bit tired, but did her best to show off all of the skills she has learned doing gymnastics for the past year. She even got a gold medal!

And of course, poor Cooper, being such a good sport after having to spend the entire day watching Chloe at her activities! What a trooper!

T-Ball Wrap Up!

Chloe had her last t-ball game of the season on June 13th! Afterwards they had a small celebration with cake and received their trophies. It was a fun season-- we can't wait until next year!!

Stylish Cooper

Cooper didn't want to get dressed this morning, so I caved and let him wear what he wanted while we drove Chloe to school. Here he is, happy to be outside in his "cowboy" pajama shirt, Thomas underwear (over a diaper) and frog boots. His only disappointment was that there were no puddles to stomp in!

BTW- We use the drop off lane at school so Cooper wasn't wandering around in public like this... just in our yard!

Five Guys, Fry's, and a Water Fountain

Last night, after Chloe's gymnastics class, Justin "needed" to go to Fry's Electronics in Renton. I think there might have been a bit of ulterior motive to go down there- Justin has been itchin' to try out the new Five Guys Burger place since he heard it opened in Renton last month! Conveniently, it was dinner time, we needed to eat and it was only a few blocks from Fry's. Since the kids were STARVING, we decided to eat first (after making a quick stop at Panda Express to get Chloe chicken and rice- heaven forbid she eat a hamburger!). The burgers and fries were really good and Cooper seemed to enjoy his grilled cheese sandwich!

While eating, we noticed a bunch of kids playing in some water fountains across the street. The kids were much more interested in taking an improtu swim than going to the electronics store, so I hung out with them there while Justin went and picked up the memory/ram/thing-a-ma-bob that he needed. It was a fun evening and the kids enjoyed getting to cool off from this crazy hot weather!

I just can't get enough of this guy

He is so cute... and HILARIOUS to boot! Cooper is such a boy and it is so fun to see him develop and learn! He wanted to climb up in our plumb tree today, instead of loading into the van in the driveway... like I said, such a boy! Here he is trying to convince me he needed to go up into the tree:

Its hot outside...

with the temperature hitting 91 in our neighborhood yesterday, the kids and I took refuge and headed for the airconditioned McDonalds to have some yummy, cold ice cream!

Backyard Fun

We've been trying to enjoy our unseasonably hot weather by being outside as much as possible the past few weeks. Saturday we spent the afternoon and evening relaxing in our own backyard! Here are some snapshots!

Justin and I set up our tent to let it air out. The kids had lots of fun playing in it and I believe Chloe is already planning to sleep in it this weekend with Justin:

Cooper loves the playhouse!

We were using the wagon to haul stuff from the shed in the back out to the car, so the kids would follow Justin around the house and then hop in the empty wagon to hitch a ride back!

And this is the fun project Mom and Dad got to work on while the kids played. We're organizing our over-full shed and changing the boxes over to uniform rubbermaid containers for easy stacking and storage! It will be great when we're done- and as a bonus, we added a lot to our "garage sale" pile while sorting through stuff!
