"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present.... What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit 'ordinary' and 'unexciting,' with joy?"

8-Weeks Old

And absolutely adorable!

Carseat Shuffle!

Cooper's carseat recently expired (yes, carseats do expire. 6 years from the date of manufacture, which can usually be found on the back of the seat), so it was time to do a little carseat shuffle! Chloe moved officially out of her five-point harness and into a belt positioning booster full time. I'm a little apprehensive about this because a five point harness seems so much safer but she is almost 7 and really follows the rules about sitting properly in the seat belt, not leaning forward, sideways or doing anything that allows the shoulder belt to sit on her improperly. We had one booster that we used occassionally in Justin's car and for her friends, so we let her pick out a new booster to be used full time. She chose a cute pink one! She is excited about her new pink seat! Cooper inherited Chloe's Graco Nautilus (which I love!). It is only two years old, so it still has a long life ahead of it. He is excited about the cupholder and his new 'big boy' seat. We took advatange of the Babies R Us 'Great Trade In Event' and traded in one of the expired seats for a 25% off coupon and purchased a convertible (can be used forward and rear facing) carseat. It will be used as a secondary seat for Cooper in Justin's car until Piper is ready to move out of the infant carrier and then we'll move it to the van for her!

I'm sure this is a boring blog post to most, but I love carseat safety, so its interesting to me! :)

Cooper and Piper

Piper was in the playroom playing on the activity gym when Cooper decided to join her. This is the conversation that followed:

Cooper: "Oh mom, look at Piper! She hit the ladybug!"
Cooper: "Piper is soo tute!" (cute)

Cooper: "Hey mom, me have toys just like these!"
Me: "Yes you do Cooper, JUST like those."

Cooper: "How'd Piper get same toys as me?"
Me: "Well..."
And suddenly Piper was no longer 'tute' or fun to watch. Or share toys with.

Growing Up

I was looking through files of pictures on our computer earlier and I ran across scans of Chloe's school pictures from this year and last. It is fun to look at them side by side and see how much older she looks!
