"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present.... What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit 'ordinary' and 'unexciting,' with joy?"

Playing at the Beach!

Last night we decided to go to a great park not far from our house. The original plan was to walk around and play at the playground, but the sandy beach was too enticing, so we hung out there and the kids played in the sand for a while! You'll also notice Cooper's evolving clothes- he kept getting wetter and wetter and by the time we left, he was just in his diaper.

Fourth of July Afternoon in Grangeville

After the Border Day's Parade, we headed back out to Nana and Papa's house to relax for the afternoon! Swimming, lounging on the deck and delicious steaks made for a wonderful afternoon and evening!

Trapped in the "Magic" Bed

One perk to staying at my grandparent's house is the adjustable bed! We tell the kids it is "magic" and they just eat it up! Justin had them trapped in it one morning...

Seeing the Sights!

On day two of our trip, we decided to venture out of town and see what we could find! It was fun seeing the different landscapes and vegetation!

Cooper, the backseat navigator!

Exploring the Weiss Rock Shelter

The beautiful Salmon River! If we'd known we were going to stumble upon sparkling white sandy beaches, we would have been more prepared for an afternoon at the river! Now we know where we'll be spending our next trip to Idaho!

The pictures don't do the sand justice! It was almost white and it sparkled! It was gorgeous!

We were wishing we had our swimsuits and lawn chairs- the river felt great in the 100 degree temperature!

Journey to Idaho...

We ventured over to Grangeville, Idaho for the Fourth of July again this year. It is such a fun small town and we love being 'off the grid' and out of cell phone reception for a few days! We started our annual adventure on Thursday July 2nd. We packed a lunch, instead of stopping for fast food like we usually do on road trips-- oh how our parents would be proud! We found this cute little park in the town of Colfax, Washington and enjoyed the shade and old playground equipment! The kids thought the huge metal slide was amazing and were intrigued by the medal teter-totters! Fun, fun!

Fabulous Cooper

Summer is here and that means a big sister home to follow around. She is taking full advantage of Cooper's desire to play with her and he has become Chloe's muse! Here he is, thinking he is hot stuff after she dressed him up. There is even a stuffed poodle in his purse! Doesn't he look fabulous?!
